Passivation

Passivation is the treatment of a stainless steel surface with an acid solution that removes contaminants and encourages the formation of a protective film. This process does not alter the appearance of the stainless steel surface, yet inhibits the development of rust on any machined surfaces. We have a 2’x2’x4’ passivation tank that allows us to treat various sized parts. JLM has chosen to use a more environmentally friendly citric acid process that is still in accordance with ASTM A380 and A967 requirements.
